I haven't worked on some of my projects the past couple of days due to other things taking up my time. Yesterday I worked with my Pop's at his Mom's house and helped out with some painting. It started to rain and we got distracted looking through old boxes in the garage. Here are some photos of what we found...

Old Ticket stubs found in my Pops' brother Kenton's desk.

Old glass slide photo of the moon.

Another glass slide photo. This one looks really old. The photo is in focus but some of the features are soft.

Old photo slide of a rabbit. Taken by Kenton.

Another old photo slide of a Chinese village (I think it is China) Taken by Kenton.

Old Singer sewing machine

Look at the detail!

And there is nothing better than smoking a cigarette lit with gold tipped matches.

That's all for today.

Until tomorrow...

Last night I tried to get as much boring work out of the way as I could. I cut out 8 lil' nugget owl bodies and sewed up 4 of them. Also, I named the other lil' nugget. His name is Reginald. When I was first putting him together he looked a little emotionless so, I gave him some eyelids and a fancy scarf. Check him out...

Yesterday morning I woke up to a lovely surprise on my work desk...

Naz's girlfriend/my friend Christine made me some beautiful flowers from yarn. I added them to my antlers in my bedroom above my bed. I love handmade gifts.

I'm going to work on some more lil' nugget owls tonight and there should be some more up in the store shortly.

Until tomorrow...

Pesha

Little Priscilla is all finished! Mark showed me how to use the sautering iron and I was able to put together her feet and sew them in. Also, I started on another nugget sized owl last night and now all I have to do is get his feet done. Here are some photos and the link to the etsy shop.

Haven't named the other lil' guy yet.

Link to where you can purchase Priscilla.

Until tomorrow...

So, unfortunately there was a miss communication  on my part when I started making the Elephant for Shannon and she wants me to make a smaller one for her. No worries! Once I get the wedding flowers finished, I will make a new one. If anyone is interested in purchasing Ellie the Elephant you can go to Valeri and I's Etsy shop. Here is the link

Here are some progress photos on the wedding flowers for Adam and Ashley. Thanks to Valeri...we made some pretty good headway today.

Patterns drawn out for petals and getting ready to cut them out. The paper we are using is from an old bible that is falling apart from the year 1880.

Valeri cutting out the petals.

We made about 17. Got quite a bit more to go...

Until tomorrow...

Started on the wedding flowers last night but didn't get as much done as I wanted to since I was out late for a friend's show. Here are the deux fleur I made last night. One has interchanging petals and the other has all peach colored flowers. I think I like the all peach flower best.

I'll be making close to 200 flowers. I will post more progress photos later.

Until tomorrow...

Pesha

Great news! I finished Eli's Elephant. I stayed up till 4 in the morning and then woke up at 9 am today to get everything finished and prepare for the next project. I will be starting on the paper flowers for Adam and Ashley's wedding next. First, I need a long nap! Here are some photos of my work space and the finished Elephant...

Work table, all cleaned up and ready to get messy again

And...

The Elephant

Back Side

Little heart pocket for baby teeth :) and hiding other things like rocks and salamanders and whatever else little kids like to collect

On to the next project! I am very excited. Now, for some much needed rest.

Monday was super busy for me. I kind of wore myself out so yesterday, I took two naps! Yesssss! It was lovely. Now since I've had some R&R...time to go back to work. I picked up the rest of my furniture at my old place yesterday and I got a pretty big chunk of the Elephant done. Hopefully...he will be done by tonight. I met with Adam and Ashley on Monday. It was my first time meeting Ashley and she is just a doll! She was excited about the paper flowers and I gave her one of the finished ones and it had a map of Italy on one of the petals and that is where Adam proposed to her. I swear, the Wareloft is magical. Small things like that happen all the time. I'm not going to post anymore progress photos of the Elephant until he is all finished. So, here is the view I am blessed with seeing everyday...

Very blessed indeed...

And one more, for lookbook!

Until tomorrow...

Pesha

Whew! Busy couple of days. I spent quite a bit of time on Shannon's Elephant yesterday and had another late night without a nap (I'm like a cat and I need my naps). Today will also be napless. I woke up early and cleaned the warehouse space, took my lookbook.nu photo for the day and came into town to work for a bit and meet up with a client for a photography/co-author project. I am very excited! Here are some progress photos of the Elephant so far.

Still a lot more to go...

I mostly just cut our pieces and recut them and then cut them down some more to fit. After this photo I sewed on his belly and a few more pieces and then called it a night.

Also, I thought you guys might want to see the progress of my lil' nugget owls...

Cut out, Sewed and stuffed buddy, completed owl, and bottle cap to show size

One more photo for the day

For my lookbook fashion blog

Finally! Some nice weather for a change :) Have a lovely Monday everyone!

Yours,

Pesha

P.S. Mark and I came up with a brand name for my animals and flowers. Piper's Posies and Piper's Pets. Logos to come soon...

Wow, I am tired! No nap today and a late night last night. Naz finally moved in, and it's going to be an amazing Summer. I didn't get much work done last night but tonight should be more productive. I already started putting more fabric on Shannon's elephant and I hope to be finished with it tonight. No more photos at the moment of his progress but, here is a lookbook.nu photo I took today along with the link.

Have a lovely weekend!

Pesha

Yesterday was very productive. Besides an interrupted nap, it was a great day. It was beautiful outside and I got a very big chunk of the elephant for Eli and Shannon done.

Also, here is a pic of one of the other owls I have been procrastinating on. This little guy is almost done. He is for my Auntie Monica. (proof that he does exist)

He just needs his eyes, some feet, and a few accessories and then he is done.

And now for Eli's Elephant

Cut out the hand drawn pattern

Hand sewn...the whole elephant

Looks like I murdered a Smurf. The outline of the pattern rubbed off on my fingers while I was sewing.

This is the elephant all sewed up and stuffed. He looks pretty plain and ugly at the moment but, he will look more like an elephant soon, once I add all of his parts and skin. (that sounded a bit morbid...)

Naz should be moving in tonight. I am excited. I have more work to do so, I will write some more tomorrow.

Yours,
Pesha

Almost All Moved In...

So, this past week has been very productive, exciting and tiring! I ended up getting sick Saturday night after moving the majority of my stuff over to the Wareloft and since then I have been nesting and resting. I have some commissioned work that I need to start working on and over all...life is on the up and up! Here are some photos of my new bedroom.

Bookshelf

Dresser Drawers I painted feathers on

Valeri came over yesterday and forced me (lovingly) to work on some more of my mini owls. Mark named her Priscilla and I am already having a hard time wanting to part with her. She is almost finished. She just needs some feet.

Mark's son, Adam and his Fiance, Ashley are getting Married July first and they want me to make some paper flowers for their wedding. I have a lot of work to do! I started on a couple last night for a centerpiece I am working on. One of the flowers is made out of wallpaper and the other is made from the pages of a 1890's bible that was falling apart. I'm still working on the designs of both flowers.

There is still a lot more work that needs to be done on the Wareloft. I will post more pictures of the progress in the very near future. Stay tuned :)

Yours,

Pesha

(Soon to be Naz as well)

The past few days/nights have blended together. Lack of sleep, due to excitement, has kept me and my room mate Naz awake into the wee hours of the morning. We have accomplished a lot at the warehouse in the past couple of days! Here is a pictorial of what we did today in our bedroom.

First...I made some paper flowers out of old player piano sheet music

I settled on making three and then Naz helped me make some more when he came by later in the evening to help with flooring and the art installation piece we did in the bedroom

This is the first thing you see when you climb up the old rickety ladder to the loft bedroom. Mark, (surrogate father/landlord) showed me how to use the band saw the other day and we cut out this heart and spray painted it gold and added a pair of deer antlers to it.

Now here is the before photo of the other wall of the bedroom. I finished this all in about 5 hours with the help of Naz later in the evening...

Brown packaging paper/cardboard box for the tree limbs

Painted some tiny branches/twigs on the limbs

Naz and I had a system down. He put glue on the leaves and I stuck them on the wall

Added the paper flowers

Last step, add one dead butterfly (found that way, no animals were harmed)

And there you go...

It was a very productive day. Tomorrow is moving day...not as exciting. More photos of the rest of the space to come soon.

Yours,

Naz and Pesha
